Privacy Policy

Last Modified: 1 October 2025

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how the InWheel mobile app and API handle information when you use the service. For other legal terms and disclaimers, please refer to our Terms of Service.

What Data We Collect

The InWheel app does not collect or store any personal data directly. The app may temporarily access your device's location to determine nearby accessibility information, but this data is not stored or transmitted beyond what is necessary to fetch place data.

API Usage and Abuse Prevention

When you update accessibility information through the app, our API logs:

  • IP addresses - to prevent vandalism and abuse of the open editing system
  • Timestamp and changes made - to track what was modified and when
  • Request metadata - for security and operational diagnostics

This logging is necessary for our legitimate interest in preventing abuse of the open contribution system (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Logs are automatically deleted after 7 days by our hosting provider.

We do not:

  • Track your behavior across sessions
  • Create user profiles
  • Use data for marketing or analytics
  • Share data with third parties (except infrastructure providers below)

How We Use Data

Your device's location is used only to determine which places to display on the map. IP addresses and change logs are used exclusively for investigating vandalism, detecting abuse patterns, and banning malicious actors. No personal profiles or behavioral tracking is conducted.

Third-Party Services

We use third-party services that may process limited data under their own privacy policies:

Your Rights

While we do not store personal data, you may disable location access via your device settings at any time. If you believe we have inadvertently received personal data, please contact us to request deletion.
